About the B.E.S.T. Program
The B.E.S.T. (Building Effective Solutions Together) program is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing positive after-school initiatives for underserved youth in Atlanta. Our mission is to connect youth, business, and community stakeholders to foster success and empower underserved young people. We believe that community-led solutions can transform local systems, enabling significant change across our neighborhoods.
Pillars of The B.E.S.T. program
Measuring Success
We will evaluate our impact through both quantitative and qualitative data, ensuring we achieve meaningful outcomes for the communities we serve. Our ultimate goal is to empower individuals to rise economically with dignity and pride, using their skills to start their businesses and create sustainable livelihoods.
Addressing Trauma and Choices
Many youth face challenges, including lack of direction, positive role models, and the pressure of societal expectations. Faced with generational poverty, they often feel their only choices are to conform to a broken system or engage in delinquency. This cycle perpetuates anger and violence, particularly in underserved neighborhoods. Our program offers a constructive alternative to traditional job training, pairing young people with successful business mentors and providing internships. We’re dedicated to equipping our youth not just with basic skills but with critical and creative thinking abilities essential for economic independence.
Empowering Youth
Our out-of-school programs serve K-12 students, addressing crucial developmental needs. We recognize the pivotal role of middle school in shaping academic trajectories and aim to enhance our youth's emotional, cognitive, and social development. Our operational goals ensure that:
1. All youth access quality services and experiences.
2. Youth become self-sufficient members of society.
3. Youth actively participate in planning and implementing programs.
We target disadvantaged youth in underserved communities, helping them build professional networks through mentorship and high-value opportunities in business.
Addressing Inequality
Atlanta ranks first in the U.S. for income inequality, underscoring the urgency of our work. We believe that all residents deserve equal opportunities to learn, work, and contribute to a vibrant community. B.E.S.T. champions equity strategies, focusing on racial equity and community-informed grantmaking to promote prosperity for all.
Program Structure
The B.E.S.T. entrepreneurship program consists of two six-month cycles followed by a six-month internship, culminating in a graduation ceremony to honor participants' achievements. Graduates will receive professional training, entrepreneurial exposure, and lifelong support as they embark on their paths to success.
By collaborating with community stakeholders, donors, and nonprofits, we strive to strengthen Atlanta and provide all youth with the tools they need to thrive in today’s world.
